DirectSTEP® eLearning course from LRP
Not every child with a disability will qualify for special education and related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). To be eligible for such services, the child must meet the definition of one or more of the 13 categories of disabilities specified in the IDEA and must need special education and related services because of his disability.
Emotional disturbance (ED) is one of the 13 categories of disability that can qualify a student for special education and related services under the IDEA. This course will review characteristics commonly present in students with ED, placement options in light of the IDEA’s least restrictive environment (LRE) mandate, and strategies that paraprofessionals can use to support these students.
